When people think of Orlando and Kissimmee they tend to think of the theme parks, while these are great fun there are so many other things to do that really should not be missed…here are a few of our favorites

FLORIDA STATE PARKS
Away from the Theme Parks and back to nature, Florida has some amazing places whether you are looking to go for a picnic, a swim or a swamp ride. Around the corner just a 10 minute car ride we have a local park at Kissimmee just off the 192. About an hour south and you have one of the best swamp tours in Florida, no need to go all the way down to the Everglades try

kissimmeeswamptours.com

This is by far one of the top, if not the best swamp tour in Florida. It is less commercial and run on a smaller scale than most. They provide head phones so you may talk with the guide during the ride. They spend a lot of time showing you the wildlife. For my family and friends this has been the number one choice.

Blue Springs State Park  Blue Spring State Park

Is about an hour north of our home. on the way there or back visit the spiritual world of Cassadaga. Blue Springs is fantastic in the winter for seeing hundreds of Manatee. There is so much to see and do there and a great place to take a picnic. ( but do not take alcohol)

Beautiful beaches, great history worthy of the two hour drive and really worth a stay over night.

Kissimmee Historic Downtown       thth-1

Not to be confused with ‘Old Town’ (see below) This is the real Kissimmee downtown and has some nice bars and a regular farmers market.

HORSEBACK RIDING, Before you look at the wonderful world of Disney below, take a look at a horseback trail for the whole family care of Disney’s Wilderness resort.
